Don’t let the karacter (qube) blind you, cause i Don’t let the karacter (qube) blind you, cause it’s shining bright on all the audio. @leononbass „The first thing in my mastering chain is the elysia karacter. I use it to give the mixes I master some „warmth“ and „character“ if needed. Especially mixes, which are produced and recorded exclusively in a DAW (digital audio workstation) need that extra „analog goodness“ sometimes. My two favourite settings are: Setting No.1. drive all the way down, color all the way up, mix 100 % wet. Everything off except „stereo link“ and „left on“. That setting produces some kind of tape-style glueing and overtones. But don’t hit it too hard. It has to be just very subtle in a mastering scenario. Setting No. 2: drive all the way down, color all the way up, mix just 20 % wet and FET shred on. That setting produces some tube style overtones and compression which is fantastic in parallel mode and adds subtle grit and depth. It’s important to use it just very subtle, because we are in mastering. Every mastering I do is unique and every track needs something different.
